In statement today on Medium, the CEO of BAKKT Kelly Loeffler announced that they had secured insurance for their bitcoin cold wallets and were in the process of getting insurance for their warm wallets as part of BAKKT’s daily futures and warehousing operations.

Loeffler notes:

I’m pleased to announce that we have insurance for bitcoin in cold storage and are in the process of securing insurance for the warm wallet within the Bakkt Warehouse architecture. We are focused on every aspect of delivering an institutional grade crypto warehouse solution and believe this is a significant step in building confidence in this asset class.

The news was overshadowed however by an initial announcement that the opening of the Bakkt™ Bitcoin Daily Futures platform would be delayed until 24 January 2019.
